Saucony Peregrine 6

We got a chance to take the new Saucony Peregrine 6 onto some local trails to get our “1st Impressions” on this updated trail shoe.

The Peregrine 6 has a flexible midsole to adapt to the uneven surfaces encountered on trails. It also features the new EVERUN heel insert that provides additional cushioning. When first putting this shoe on, it feels a little firm under the forefoot , in large part to the EBO rock plate that provides protection from sharp rocks along the trail. However, once on the trail, you don’t notice the firmness, but it does retain a responsive feel. The lightweight feel and responsiveness, makes this shoe feel lively on the trail.

As mentioned in the video, the most noticeable feature is the new PWRTRAC outsole that provides superior traction. Several runners commented on how grippy it felt after running through some mud and puddles. Saucony states that the super-tacky PWRTRAC outsole provides 3 times more traction than standard rubber.

The Flexifilm material in the upper provides a really lightweight exoskeletal support frame that is flexible and strong, which helps create a nearly seamless surface to minimize any discomfort in the shoe.

The Peregrine 6 has a 4mm offset, so runners that lack flexibility in the lower legs or have experienced achilles issues should be cautious or start a stretching routine prior to putting long miles in the Peregrine (we always recommend stretching regularly).

As mentioned, the toe box area is wide. So runners looking for a roomy toe box should consider trying the Peregrine. Even if you don’t require a wide toe box, it doesn’t feel too big.

For those of you that are into the real technical stuff:
