Why Do You Run?
For Health? For Fitness? For Fun? For Camaraderie? Do you Run For Life? (Of course all of this applies to our walkers too!!)
The 26th Annual Georgia Games Run For Life 5K &10K is next Saturday, July 25th in Kennesaw. Here’s another great reason to run or walk: all proceeds go to the Georgia Sports Foundation’s fight against childhood obesity. In-store registration continues at BPRC Marietta, Atlanta, and Decatur through 8:00pm July 22, and at BPRC Kennesaw through 8:00pm on July 23. There is also a 1 mile fun run for the kids, and an awesome finish line party, making this a great outing for the entire family!
The Georgia Games is an Olympic legacy, designed to “Keep the Olympic Dream Alive” for local athletes of all ages and skill levels. So instead of asking “Why Do You Run,” Peachy asks, “Why Wouldn’t You Run Or Walk The Georgia Games Run For Life?”

About that camaraderie…this coming Saturday, the 18th, we’re having our monthly group run out of BPRC Decatur! We start at 7:30am, and have maps for various distances. And, if one of the reasons you run is so you can eat, we’ve got that covered too! Bagels, cream cheese, OJ and coffee await your return! This event is free and open to runners and walkers of all paces and abilities. What a great way to meet new people! To help us figure out how much food and drink to bring in, please RSVP and let us know you’re coming. (Peachy hates to let anyone go hungry!) Also, be sure to check out all the group runs BPRC has to offer.

Speaking of Peachy, our rotund little running stone fruit has been getting a great deal of email questions about the upcoming Big Peach Sizzler 10K. So, here’s a sneak peak of this upcoming event; the race numbers are getting their D Tag timing chips attached, and should be ready for in-store registration starting July 27th. On-line registration through Active.com should go live on July 17th. Benefit of registering at BPRC: Saucony technical T to the first 800 people who sign up at any of our stores. Great looking, colorful cotton T to those signing up on line, or if they receive race numbers 801 or higher in person. So, hang with us just a little bit longer. (Dates noted are subject to change.) All details will be revealed in next week’s Peachy News!

Here’s another date to mark on your calendar: Sunday, Aug. 2. That’s when we’ll have our next BPRC/Subaru Trail Run. This installment takes us to beautiful Vickery Creek.
And, if we might be so presumptuous to ask for a little more of your Pedestrian Active Lifestyle (P.A.L.) time, be sure to save 8/8 at 8:00am for a kick off run and clinic to start training for the 2nd Annual Zooma Women’s Half Marathon and 5K.
More details on these cool events will be in upcoming editions of Peachy News.

So, no matter the reason, here’s hoping that Your Best Miles Be Those Covered On Foot!
