What’s New And Exciting?!Congratulations to all the finishers of the 2009 ING Georgia Marathon and Half Marathon! We had great running weather on a beautiful course that truly is a love letter to our city!To help make the memories linger, have your finisher’s medal engraved for free at BPRC! The engravers will be at our stores as follows: Friday, April 3rd from 10:00am-8:00pm BPRC Atlanta and Marietta Saturday, April 4th from 9:00am-6:00pm, BPRC Decatur and Kennesaw There is no need to make an appointment. Come by at your convenience; if the engraver is not too busy, hang out with us while he gets it done. If the wait is a bit too long, you are welcome to leave your medal with us, and we'll call you when its ready. While you're here, be sure to check out the remaining official ING logo wear! There’s no better way to get things rolling than with the See-Mee (Southeastern Endurance & Multisport) Expo, taking place this coming Saturday, April 4th from 3:00pm-7:00pm at the Concourse Athletic Club! Check out all the latest and greatest gear, while you get a chance to meet the experts, and learn from their wisdom. BPRC is teaming up with K-Swiss, so please come to our booth and say hi! There’s even BBQ and beer to round out the event! Admission is only $5.00, and that gets you a goody bag full of cool stuff, and the chance to win some awesome prizes. Whether you’re training for yet another iron distance triathlon, or considering doing your first sprint triathlon, See-Mee is a must do! Here's something else new, exciting, and different! To help celebrate the 30th Annual Sickle Cell 7K Run and 4K Walk, you’re cordially invited to Big Peach Decatur for some fun! Open to runners and walkers of all abilities, Peachy has a special message; HEY WALKERS…UNCLE PEACHY WANTS YOU! If you’ve never considered taking part in an organized race/walk, this is the perfect event for you! For those of you as metrically challenged as Peachy, a 4K is approximately 2.485 miles. If that sounds like a long distance, look at it this way; if you’ve ever shopped any of Atlanta’s larger malls, then you’ve done the distance, and more! Here’s the plan: arrive at BPRC by 6:30 (or earlier if you like), and head out for a 2 mile walk or run in downtown Decatur. We also have maps for longer distances available if you wish to do more. Then, at 7:15, meet Charles Williams from the Walking Club of Georgia. Charles, a retired professor of Computer Information Sciences at Georgia State, is a collegiate record holder in several running distances. Now in his 70’s Charles is a record holder in the sport of Racewalking! Charles will be on hand to talk about strategies to successfully complete the Sickle Cell 4K walk or 7K run, and include some great tips about technique. Also on hand will be representatives from the Sickle Cell organization and members from the South Fulton Running Partners. (Registration for the race/walk is going on now at all 4 BPRC locations, and you can sign up during our clinic if you prefer.) Should be a blast, and a great way to spend a Wednesday evening!
