What’s Got You Chasing Around Town?Do you find yourself chasing all about town…running this errand, racing to that soccer match, high-tailing it to the next meeting? We want to help channel that craziness in the pursuit of your version of a Pedestrian Active Lifestyle (P.A.L.). Check out the latest and greatest fun ways to get that endorphin rush we all love so much:Looking for that fast AJC Peachtree Road Race qualifier? Registration continues until 8:00pm Wednesday, March 3 at all 4 BPRC locations for the Chattahoochee Road Runners 5K & 10K. Presented by the City of Sandy Springs, if you like flat, fast runs, then this is the race for you! Here’s a great link to last minute info to help limit that other type of running around! We’re so excited about the following races, that we’re starting in-store registration a bit earlier than usual! April 17th at the Gwinnett Braves Stadium in Lawrenceville is the Shoe Box Derby 5K and Fun Run. Benefiting Operation Christmas Child through Samaritan’s Purse, the race organizers have set a goal of collecting 2000 shoeboxes at this event. If that isn’t reason enough to do a 5K at such a cool venue, how about this; overall male and female winner will each receive a Garmin 405CX as their prize! And, the overall winner will have his or her name engraved on the Annual Cup. In-store registration is going on right now at all 4 BPRC locations. Getting back to our chasing theme, remember a few months ago we asked you to vote to make Atlanta the next city for the Skirt Chaser 5K Race Series? Well, you did it!!! Thanks to a HUGE amount of votes, it’s happening on May 15 at Grant Park. Here’s a 5K with a bit of a twist: the women get a 3 minute head start, and then the men chase after them. The first person to cross the finish line, male or female gets $500. The race entry fee while a bit higher than your average 5K gets a SkirtSports skirt for the women, and a tech T for the men. You’ll have your new duds in advance so you can wear them at the race. The other interesting twist is that the race will start at 5:30pm, so it ends with a colossal block party that includes food, beer, live music, and a fashion show. In-store registration will begin at all 4 BPRC stores on Thursday, March 4th. And, finally, more about the Big Peach 5K taking place on May 1. Help us celebrate Peachy’s 6th birthday with our 5th running of (if we do say so ourselves) this awesome race. In the past 2 weeks we talked about our incredible presenting sponsor, TECO, the great looking Nike tech T for the first 1700 finishers, our charity partnership with the GA chapter of Team in Training, and last week we mentioned how Peachy’s going greener with compostable cups and bags from EcoVision donated by the amazing folks at M-Pass Inc.. This week Peachy asked us to reach out to the many, many walkers we see at BPRC every day. Hey all you walkers out there, don’t let the word race keep you from joining the fun! The course is open for an hour. If you can maintain a 19 minute mile for 3.1 miles, you can enter this race, and have a really great experience! Whether you bring a friend, or make a new one, you're sure to have a blast at our event. OK, you know we couldn't stop there. In-store and online registration are happening right now, so sign up today! Hold It…Stop The Presses… We were just about to sign off when we received some great news! Remember that icy, snowy Saturday we had on Feb. 13? You know, the morning we had to cancel our Spring Marathon Spectacular in our Kennesaw store? We’re going to try it again on Saturday, March 13 at 8:00am. We start with Kyle O’Day, from Continuum Sports Solutions (web site not available). His organization brings 10+ years experience helping athletes improve their running form. If you want to learn more about how proper foot strike, body posture, hip position, and arm carry can make you a more efficient runner, then don’t miss this opportunity to learn from one of the best. Following Kyle’s talk, Brooks Sports will raffle off two free entries to the Country Music Half or Full Marathon in Nashville. There will of course be other give-aways from Brooks, a group run/walk (we have maps with distances from 3 miles on up), and light refreshments. Great way to do that last taper run before the ING, or some longer miles leading up to Nashville or another spring race.
