The ABC’s Of Running Fun
After an absolutely arctic weekend, we anxiously await the arrival of spring. Awash with anticipation, we add in-store registration for the following activities for your amusement:
If you aim to add a little adventure into your life, then check out the 4th Annual Thrill In The Hills Half & Full Marathon Trail Race at Ft. Yargo State park in Winder. Taking place on Feb. 27th, you’ll get a great single and double track off-road running experience! The route gives you a little bit of everything, rolling hills, climbs, roots, rocks and some technical sections. If you want to leave the pavement behind and ditch the city, this is the race for you! (By the way, you can register for any and all of the trail races presented by Dirty Spokes Productions at BPRC at any time!)
Then on March 6th, 10K “Season” continues with aplomb with the Chattahoochee Road Runners 5K/10K/2K. Presented by the City of Sandy Springs and the Chattahoochee Road Runners, this race is a fast favorite AJC Peachtree Road Race qualifying race. In-store registration begins Thursday, Feb. 11 at all of our stores. We will not be issuing race numbers, as timing chips will be attached. You will be able to pick up your number race morning.
Speaking of Peachtree qualifiers, in-store registration has officially begun for the 12th Annual Silver Comet 10K running on March 13th. Common accolades for this race include flat, fast and fun! New this year: timing chips will be issued to ensure accurate results, and therefore, we will not be issuing race numbers at BPRC. Of course signing up with us saves you the on-line fee, and you will be able to pick up your number race morning.

Being a buddy of Peachy, you know we believe in big, boisterous in-store events.
We begin with our Spring Marathon Spectacular taking place at BPRC Kennesaw this coming Saturday the 13th at 8:00am, and again at BPRC Decatur on the 20th also at 8:00. Yes, we are boasting an event so brilliant we didn’t want to begrudge anyone the chance to attend.
No one will be bored as you get to pick the brain of Kyle O’Day, of Continuum Sports Solutions (web site not available). His organization brings 10+ years experience helping athletes improve their running form. If you want to learn more about how proper foot strike, body posture, hip position, and arm carry can make you a more efficient runner, then don’t miss this opportunity to learn from one of the best.
Adding to the enjoyment, Brooks Sports brings you the chance to win a free entry to the Country Music Half or Full Marathon in Nashville. (Two entries per event to be raffled off. Includes race fee and access to post-race concert.) There will of course be other give-aways from Brooks, a group run/walk (we have maps with distances from 3 miles on up), and light refreshments. Join us for one or both of these bodacious happenings!

But wait…there’s more bawdy fun in store! Bust out your appointment book and take some time out of your busy schedule to join us for a major BPRC party. That’s right, it’s our 2nd Annual Fat Tuesday Extravaganza at 6:30pm, Feb. 16th. We start with a brief run or walk around beautiful Downtown Decatur, and then the party begins; red beans and rice, king cake, and of course beer from New Orleans. (Must be 21 and prove it to partake in the adult beverage.) Making this party even better is the chance to continue celebrating the boffo win of the New Orleans Saints in the Super Bowl! Decatur store manager Luis, a N.O. native son will still be beside himself with glee, and is sure to make this party a major blow out! Please RSVP so we know how much food and drink to bring.

We interrupt this alphabetical barrage of content for a brief sing-along with Peachy:
L is for the way you live to run
O is for your openness to make it fun
V is very very extra ordinary
E is even more than any run right out the door
…and love is all that I can give to you…love is more than just a run for two…
If your singing is not quite the right Valentine’s Day gift for your favorite runner or walker, may we suggest a BPRC Gift Card? Order it online by 8:00pm Weds., 2/10, and it should arrive in the mail in plenty of time. Of course you can pick up one (or more if you’re friendly) at any BPRC store.

Continuing, with this week’s current events, we wanted to update you on Big Peach Outreach efforts. Thanks to so many of you who care so much, we were able to send copious amounts of shoes and shirts to Haiti and the Dominican Republic in the last few weeks. Community Activist Barry Corker once again took charge and with his help we now have sent approximately 1000 pairs of shoes to Haiti relief efforts.
In addition, Todd Liscomb, BPRC’s Director of Marketing and Special Events went on a trip with the Christian Runners to the Dominican Republic, also bringing about 1000 pairs of shoes.
Stay tuned for more information about our community outreach programs!
That’s a quick way to have a gander at all the many fabulous, exciting events and prizes at BPRC! (The preceding sentence is a pangram – a sentence containing all 26 letters of the alphabet.) As always we close by saying, “May Your Best Miles Be Those Covered On Foot."
