Thanksgiving Is Coming!
…and we offer a big THANK YOU to our Peachy family! We appreciate all of our P.A.L. enthusiasts for your energy, friendship and trust, and look forward to many more adventures together.
Let’s start with this weekend...
In keeping with the Thanksgiving theme, the Turkey Trot in Cartersville takes place this Saturday, 11/21 at a very civilized 9:00am. Age group winners receive a frozen turkey. Walkers and jog strollers are welcome too! Proceeds benefit the Bartow County United Way. In-store registration continues through 8:00pm Wednesday at BPRC Decatur, Atlanta and Marietta. It continues through 8:00pm Thursday at BPRC Kennesaw.
More Thanksgiving Talk…
In-store registration also continues through 8:00pm Monday, 11/23 at all BPRC locations for the 7th Annual Gobble Jog 5K & 10K. Taking place on Thanksgiving morning at the Marietta Square, this holiday tradition is great fun for the entire family, as it also includes a 1 mile Fun Run, and Tot Trot for the 5 and under set. There’s an opportunity for packet pick up and a pre-race carbo-load dinner on the evening of 11/25 at Must Ministries.
Speaking of Thanksgiving Day…
There’s another race tradition that bears mentioning here, even though we’re not taking registration at BPRC. For those of you long distance runners, it’s the Atlanta Marathon and Half Marathon presented by the Atlanta Track Club.
13.1 or 26.2 = more pie!
While we are not taking race apps, we will be at the fabulous pre-race expo Nov. 24 & 25 from 11:00am-8:00pm at the Intercontinental Hotel in Buckhead. Come visit us at the Big Peach Jr. store, the Mizuno booth, and the Jelly Belly Sport Beans booth.
Following Up…
On October 27 we held a Safety & Self Defense seminar at our Atlanta store. For those of you who could not attend, and those of you who need a reminder of what you learned, we’ve posted an article on our website with vital tips to keep you safe.
"Whether you run or walk in the dark or during daylight hours, a good safety plan is just as important as a good training plan. Gearing Up To See and Be Seen: If you train before the sun rises or after it sets, a reflective vest should be on the top of your list." Read more...
Catch Me If You Can…
A few weeks ago we mentioned the Skirt Chasers 5K series of races, and our campaign to bring the next race in the series to Atlanta. To briefly remind you, ladies wear a Skirt Sports running skirt at the race (if they so choose,) and get a 3 minute head start over the guys who then become “Skirt Chasers.” These events usually take place in the early evening, and offer a fantastic post-race block party.
Our spy network tells us that there was a HUGE spike in votes for Atlanta thanks to our gentle nudge, and the race organizers are very impressed with our enthusiasm for their event. So, if you have not yet voted, please do so. If you have voted, pass along our gentle nudge to anyone and everyone you can think of.
Last bit of follow up…
This past Saturday we introduced you to the Southern Odyssey Relay Adventure Race with a scavenger hunt and meeting with one of the race directors. If you are still not sure about participating for this 12 person relay taking place in October 2010, here are a few reasons to sign up right away:
- Save $300 off the registration fee of $960 if you sign up before the end of the year. (That’s only $55 per person, $660 per team.)
- Register in-store, and the team captain will receive a $25 BPRC Gift Card for his/her effort
- No need to have all 12 team members lined up to register. You can add teammates later
- Don’t have 11 like minded friends? No problem, Southern Odyssey offers a matchmaking service.
Many thanks again to you all. May Your Best Miles Be Those Covered On Foot.
