Tasty Treats To Tantalize Your Running Palate
Did our recent cold snap keep you housebound? Are you chomping at the bit to venture outside? Did today’s 44 degree temperature feel like a heat wave?
If the answer to any or all of these questions is a resounding yes, then come on over to Peachy’s house tomorrow evening for a little wine (not whine) and cheese as we Chatt Up The Chattahoochee Challenge 10K. This year marks the 9th annual running of this fantastic, fun, fast Peachtree Road Race qualifier, and we figured that’s as good a reason as any for a party! DeAnn from the Chattahoochee Nature Center is not only serving up a bit of the grape at our Marietta store, she is also raffling off a free race entry, and discounting the entry fee by $5.00 if you sign up during our event. She'll be on hand to tell you all about the race, and the wonderful work being done at the CNC. In addition, your ace BPRC staff is going to talk about being an “eco-chic” runner, so you lower your carbon footprint and just leave regular footprints as you run or walk. Matt with New Balance (official footwear sponsor of the race) will be there to talk about how NB is working to keep our planet green, and he is willing to lead a pre-event run if you’re interested.

Need more appetizing running/walking delicacies? Check out all the great races you can register for at BPRC:
On Jan. 23 it’s the family fun Polar Bear 5K/2K & Cub Runs. Taking place at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church across from our Marietta store, this race is always a crowd pleaser. The 5K is surprisingly flat for a relatively hilly neighborhood, and the kids races can’t be beat!
Jan. 30 is the Walton Raider Chase 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run. A great fundraiser for the Walton High School track and cross country program, this cool race starts at the school track. Registration is available at our Kennesaw and Marietta stores only, but if you live closer to Decatur or Atlanta and want to sign up, we’d be happy to help!
Also on Jan. 30 is the Tartan Trot 5K & 10K at St. Luke’s Presbyterian Church in Dunwoody. The 10K can be used as a Peachtree Road Race qualifier. There is also a 1 mile fun run, and tot trot for kids 5 and under. Members of the Atlanta Bagpipe Band will play at the awards ceremony, giving this race a unique Scottish flavor.
We are also offering in-store registration for the ING Georgia Marathon & Half Marathon taking place March 21. Can you believe this race is already 4 years old? Sign up at BPRC and save $10 off the full marathon fee, and $5.00 off the half.
If trail running is your thing,(or you would like to try it), you can register for any and all of Dirty Spokes Productions and XTerra trail races. These guys offer up all kinds of distances at their events all over the state, visiting some of our most beautiful state and national parks. Next up: Feb. 27 Thrill In The Hills 1/2 & Full Marathon Trail Run, Ft. Yargo St. Park, Winder.
You can also sign up for the amazing Southern Odyssey Relay Run Adventure taking place October 8 & 9. Teams of 12 run 200 miles from Athens to Roswell, with a nice visit to Helen and other great North Georgia towns along the way. The next 25 teams to sign up will save $150 off the registration fee, so don’t delay!
As always we close by saying, “May Your Best Miles Be Those Covered By Foot.”
