Spring Into Action With BPRC!That’s right, spring is here, and there’s lot’s of Peachy action around town to support your P.A.L. (Pedestrian Active Lifestyle)!This is it! The ING Georgia Marathon & Half Marathon is this coming Sunday! Registration is now closed, and the race sold out at 15,000! There is still a need for a few volunteers to act as course marshalls, so if you’re not running, or you have a loved one you’d like to support, you might want to consider helping out. Don’t forget to come by and say hi to your friends from Big Peach at the race Expo at the Georgia Dome. Expo hours are 11:00am-7:00pm Friday, and 9:00am-6:00pm Saturday. Please visit us at the “Big Peach Jr.” store, Mizuno/ING licensed merchandise, Adidas, Asics, Brooks, K-Swiss, Nike and Pearl Izumi. Yup, Peachy sure gets around! After you’ve crossed the finish line and received what we hear is the coolest medal ever, Big Peach Running Co. wants to really help celebrate your victory. We are offering free race medal engraving at all 4 BPRC locations! That’s right, FREE MEDAL ENGRAVING!! (This is so cool Peachy wanted it mentioned twice!) Friday, April 3rd from 10:00am-8:00pm BPRC Atlanta and Marietta Saturday, April 4th from 9:00am-6:00pm, BPRC Decatur and Kennesaw What else is fun, new and exciting for spring? Glad you asked! The Nike Run Club fun continues at BPRC Decatur on Tuesday ay 6:30pm , and BPRC Atlanta on Wednesday at 6:30pm. This week you will get the chance to take an iPod fitted with a Nike+ Kit or a Nike+ Sportband out for a test drive! There will also be some Nike shoes available to test drive as well. Remember to bring your Punchcard to work your way towards all kinds of cool prizes. If you haven’t made it to weeks 1 or 2 of the Nike Run Club, no worries…it’s never too late to join in the fun of this free activity open to runners and walkers of all abilities! Spring also means April Fool’s Day, and BPRC is just the place for some cool, fool fun! Did you know that the 30th annual Sickle Cell 7K Run & 4K Walk takes place on April 11th? Did you also know that BPRC is your exclusive in-store registration point for this great event? (Of course you can always register on Active.com too!) What does this have to do with April Fool’s Day? Glad you asked!! Most road races are 5K (3.1 miles) or 10K (6.2 miles). How do you strategize for a 7K race (4.349…miles)? How to avoid starting too fast and losing steam before the finish? How do you avoid waiting too long to turn up your turbochargers, and not putting in your best race? The answer is join us at BPRC Decatur on Wednesday, April 1 at 6:30pm for some useful tips to make this or any race more successful for you! We’ll start with a 3 mile group run or walk in beautiful Downtown Decatur, and then bring you back for the clinic! As always, this event is free and open to runners and walkers of all abilities. What new business has us feeling spring fever? How about the 2nd Annual Brookhaven Bolt 5K Run/Walk on May 16th at 8:00am! Taking place in the beautiful Ashford Park neighborhood, this family event benefits the Ashford Park Elementary School. There’s even a post race party at the Hudson Grill! How about some ongoing activities to remind you to spring into action: In-store registration continues for these awesome events: April 18 – Eye Run - Chart The Course in McDonough, GA 5K, 10K, and Tot Trot presented by One Sight charities for worldwide eye care. April 25 – XTERRA 10K Trail Race at Chicopee Woods in Gainsville, GA (Registration for all XTERRA trail races are available at BPRC.) May 16 – Turtle Crawl Sprint Triathlon and 5K Run in Jekyll Island, GA. (In fact, you can register for all Georgia Multisports Productions events at BPRC.) May 3 – SweetH20 50K Trail Race at Sweetwater Creek State Park Finally, if we may be a bit self indulgent…nothing puts more spring in Peachy’s step then talking about the 4th Annual Big Peach 5K, taking place on Saturday, May 2 at 8:00am! Presented by the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO), our event is a blast! We have pre and post race entertainment, a great looking Nike DriFit T for the first 1700 registered finishers, yummy post race treats from Elwoods Pizza and Smoothie King just to name a few, and a great route with a downhill finish on Peachtree Road! Oh, and let’s not forget a free race entry if you purchase $75.00 in Nike gear. (Registration and purchase must take place at the same time for this to happen.) To register, stop by any BPRC location, download an application and mail it in, or go to Active.com. If you want to train on the course, a route map is available too! Proceeds from the Big Peach 5K go to the Georgia Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. With your help, last year we donated $12,000 to this most worthy cause. Help us exceed that total in 2009!
