Peachy’s Dilemma
Every week Peachy tries very hard to come up with a clever headline for the weekly newsletter. With 2 headline-worthy items, Peachy truly has a dilemma this week, and if our roly poly little friend had hands, he/she(it) would be throwing them up in the air right now!
In-store registration continues at all BPRC locations for the always fast, always fun, always exciting Charles Harris 10K! This favorite Peachtree Road Race qualifier will be better than ever this year with the addition of some outstanding new stuff. There will be a clock at every mile marker so you can keep up with your progress. And, positioned at each clock will be a sign posting the time to be running to qualify for the:
- Men’s Open Division 36:30 or less
- Sub-Seeded Men and Women 36:31 - 41:59
- Timed Group 1A Men and Women 42:00 – 49:59
- Timed Group 1B Men and Women 50:00 – 54:59
What a great way to keep on pace for your target finish time!
Another new feature lets you get a little extra sleep on race day morning if you registered on line and need to pick up your number. Packet pickup is available:
- Feb. 19 from 11:00am - 8:00pm at BPRC Decatur, and
- Feb. 20 from 11:00am - 8:00pm at BPRC Atlanta
But wait...there’s more! They've got Brooks Technical T's to the first 1250 pre-registered finishers! And to sweeten the deal, purchase $75.00 in footwear or apparel from Brooks and your race entry is free! (Purchase and registration must take place as one transaction at BPRC.) How about live music from the School of Rock at mile 5 to motivate your finishing sprint! You will also find delicious eats from Raging Burrito at the finish line, and photos from True Speed Photo, just to name a few of the really cool things about the Charles Harris Run.
Now a brief interlude between BE#1 and BE#2:

Big Event #2: Recovering From The Long Run - the next installment in our ING Georgia Marathon & Half Marathon Registration To Race Day Series.
For a truly romantic Valentine’s Day treat, come on out to BPRC Kennesaw bright and early Saturday morning to learn some very valuable lessons on how to recover from those long miles you’re now running or walking. After all, ING race day is just 6+weeks away! Opening the program is Dr. Pam Stone from Stone Family Chiropractic Center. A marathoner and Ironman triathlete, Dr. Pam is eminently qualified to discuss some useful tools to get you feeling better faster. Also on hand will be Tony Adams of Georgia Sports Massage to discuss the benefits of massage therapy as it relates to those long miles. Tony is an avid runner with 10 marathons under his belt. Rounding out the program is Ilana Katz, Registered Dietcian/Sports Nutritionist and founder of Optimal Nutrition For Life. Ilana has been known to run a marathon and triathlon or 2 herself! Of course, if you’re not training for ING, and your long runs are more of the 5K or 10K variety, you will still find the information at this clinic very useful!
Following the clinic will be the opportunity for a group run. Suggested mileage for half marathoners is 12, with 18 miles on the agenda for full marathoners. However, we will have maps available for shorter distances, so no need to feel pressure to go too far!
Of course no BPRC event would be complete without the chance to win some cool stuff, such as a free race entry to the ING Georgia Half or Full Marathon. In addition, if you have not yet signed up, you can save $5.00 off the registration fee for the half, and $10.00 off the full. If you’re one of those folks who never ventures outside the perimeter, broaden your horizons Saturday morning and check out our fabulous Kennesaw location, the baby in Peachy’s family!
