Peachy By The Numbers
While our roly poly mascot may not have a Ph.D. in mathematics, he/she(?) sure likes numbers. Here are some of Peachy’s favorites!
24: As in days left before the Fall Five Miler Run/Walk presented by AT&T The Real Yellow Pages and BPRC.
10/18/08: Race Day! Remember, this fun event is open to runners and walkers, is stroller friendly, and leashed dog friendly!
800: The number of participants who will receive a long sleeve Asics technical T. We haven’t quite reached that number yet, so don’t risk missing out, and register today! (Check out the mock-up of the T-shirt design on the lower right hand side of this newsletter. Picture that great looking graphic on a long sleeve Asics T!) Download an application and bring it to any BPRC location, mail it to our Marietta store, or go to Active.com. NEW FINISHER’S GOODY! We will also have a pair of Feetures! socks for those of you who cross the finish line!
$52.56: The retail price including sales tax for an Asics long sleeve technical T and pair of Feetures! socks. With a race entry fee of $20.00, you’ve saved $32.65, which is more than a 62% discount! This stat got BPRC founder Mike Cosentino so jazzed, that he said (OK, enthusiastically exclaimed), “IT IS THE BEST RETURN ON RACE REGISTRATION INVESTMENT IN THE HISTORY OF MANKIND!!!!”
2: Very worthy organizations will benefit from the proceeds of this event; the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and the Chattahoochee Nature Center.
1924:The year Eric Liddell won the 400 meter Olympic Gold. Be sure to stick around after the race to meet John W. Keddie, author of "Running The Race." His book tells the story of a great athlete featured in the film "Chariots of Fire."
50: The number of volunteers we still need to recruit to help make the Fall Five Miler a huge success. Please sign up here. Volunteers will be rewarded with a Tshirt of their own!
6: Races in the XTerra Georgia Trail Running Series. Come to any BPRC location to register for 1, 2, or all 6 of these awesome events. 1st up: Fall Fitness 5K on October 4th at the Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Center Trails in Buford, GA.
10K/5K: The distances you can run in yet another seriously fun trail race, the Camp Race For Camp Grace, taking place on October 4th at Camp Grace in Cumming, GA. You also have the opportunity to camp out the night before if you wish. In-store registration continues at BPRC.
1400+: People have already registered for the Silver Comet Half Marathon taking place on October 25th at 8:00am. There’s always a great looking long sleeve T with color choices to make this fast, fun race the blast that it is! This BPRC staff favorite will sell out at 1700, so get that application in before you miss out! Here’s another reason to sign up now; the entry fee is $45 at present, going up to $60 on October 5. Register in person at BPRC, or on Active.com.
29: Years and counting for the Douglasville Moonlight Run 5K (formerly the Halloween Moonlight Run), on October 25 at 9:00pm. Yup, that’s right, PM! The largest after dark 5K also hosts a Tot Trot for the 5 and under set at 8:00pm, and a 1mile fun run for 6-12 year olds at 8:30pm.
19,920: Sadly, the number of new cases expected to be diagnosed in the U.S. of Multiple Myeloma this year. The MMRF Race for Research 5K Walk/Run on October 26 takes place at Manuel’s Tavern in Virginia Highlands, and of course you can register at BPRC. This event is designed to raise awareness and funds for this treatable, yet incurable form of cancer.
2000: That’s how many folks can run or walk the Big Pumpkin Run 5K on November 8th at 8:00am. Hosted by the World Harvest Church in Roswell, proceeds will go to the youth building fund and mission trip. A long sleeve moisture wicking T rounds out the fun.
50/50: The cool offer for the Zooma Half Marathon. Purchase $50 worth of New Balance gear, and get your race entry for $50. That’s $28 off the current entry fee of $78. This offer expires at 8:00pm on October 15. Registration goes up to $90 on October 16.
3: Additional events you can register for at BPRC. Check out the info on the right side of this newsletter!
Peachy’s got your number to help make your best miles be those covered on foot!
