Mother’s Day Fun (And Of Course Other Fun Too!)Another exciting Peachy week to talk about, so read on to learn about the following:
1. Celebrate Mother's Day early with Big Peach Running Co., Thursday, May 8th at 7:00pm at our Brookhaven Store. Yup, that's right, it's Ladies Night at BPRC! Moving Comfort will be there to teach you about proper bra fitting, and show you some of their great running and walking apparel. There will also be a nutritionist to keep you healthy, a massage therapist to pamper you, a chiropractor to keep you straight and a podiatrist to make sure your feet are happy! We will have fun prizes and giveaways, and if all that isn't reason enough, how about wine and treats that may not be approved by the nutritionist! We can't thank you enough for the huge response to the 2008 Big Peach 5K. With over 1800 registered participants, we were able to present the Leukemia and Lymphoma society a check for $12,000! We appreciate each and every one of you! Complete race results arel available through our website. We would also like to thank the many sponsors for their incredible generosity and support. Finally, a big thank you to our volunteers for tirelessly working at the many different tasks needed to make our race a success. (Note to volunteers: if you were issued a safety vest, and did not get a chance to return it, please bring it by either BPRC location when you get a chance, as they were borrowed.) 3. Get Your Peachtree Number Here! Did you or someone you know miss out on a Peachtree Road Race number this year? Don't despair! Thanks to our friends at Reebok, the Official Footwear and Apparel partner of the PRR, BPRC has a limited quantity (20, in fact 10 at each store) of complimentary numbers for this year's race!! That's right, you can get a FREE number for this year's Peachtree Road Race simply by purchasing $100 or more of Reebok product at either BPRC location. Come check out the awesom 2008 official PRR licensed merchandise and take a pair of Reebok running shoes out for a test drive. This offer is on a first come, first served basis and to be fair we cannot hold a number for you. 4. In our April 8th newsletter we mentioned that we live in one of the best places in the country for runners and walkers. We also mentioned that if you are looking for help getting started in a training program, training partners to help keep you motivated, and/or some coaching to make you a smarter athlete, consider joining one of the many training groups or running clubs around town. This month we are featuring USA Fit/Team Spirit, a martahon, half marathon and wellness training program devoted to getting you in the best shape of your life in a non-intimidating and fun environment. The founder of USA Fit/Team Spirit is Gayle Barron, who has trained over 5,000 marathon finishers. Gayle is a former world class runner. Her many accomplishments include: winner of the Boston Marathon, three time winner of the Atlanta Marathon, and five time winner of the Peachtree Road Race. Group runs meet at various locations around town, and the experienced, enthusiastic coaching staff will help you reach your goals while having fun. Registration for the fall marathon and half marathon season goes on all through the month of May. 5.
