How Sweet It Is!Peachy’s got a lot of Sweet Treats to talk about this week, and most of them are non-fattening, making them even sweeter!How sweet is this year’s Big Peach 5K?! Let’s review some of the sugary sweet goodness seen in previous editions of Peachy News: - Three easy ways to register: in person at any BPRC location, download an application and mail it in, or online at Active.com - Nike DriFit T for the first 1700 registered finishers (hurry and register, don’t miss out!) - Free race entry with any $75.00 Nike purchase - Walker friendly, stroller friendly, and dog friendly (short leashed, well socialized pooches please!) - Start line conveniently located at the Brookhaven MARTA station. Be eco-chic, take MARTA! - Pre and post race entertainment courtesy of our presenting sponsor TECO - Raffle Prizes - Lot’s of yummy post race food and drink from Fontis Water, Smoothie King, Elwoods Pizza, Kroger, Sweet Tomatoes, Lara Bar and more - Proceeds to benefit the GA chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society… Speaking of which… Team In Training (the fund raising arm of LLS) is building a team for fall marathons, half marathons and triathlons. If you attend their information session at the Marriott Residence Inn Lenox Park, 2220 Lake Blvd., Atlanta after the race at 10:00am, bring your Big Peach 5K race number, and sign up while you're there, the $100 registration fee will be waived! SWEEEET! (By the way, Lake Blvd. is on the BP5K route!) Need more sweet goodies? How about a free pre-race pasta party! That’s right, Friday night, May 1 from 6:30-8:30pm, our good friends at Rockledge: A Residential Resort are hosting a complimentary Big Peach 5K pasta dinner! A tent will be set up behind the leasing office where you will find food, and of course fun! This community is all about fitness, and even has its has it’s own path leading to the Chattahoochee River park at Cochran Shoals! Sure is a tasty way to spend the evening! Rockledge is located at 2075 Powers Ferry Rd., Marietta, GA 30067. Please RSVP to Billy Holcombe at billy@rockledgeatl.com so there is enough food for everyone. If you need any additional information, please call Billy at 770-955-2513. More sweet stuff: We’re offering race number pick up for those of you who registered on line or via mail. That never happens at a 5K, but we’re all about making life easy. Number pick up will be at BPRC Decatur from 10:00am-8:00pm on Thursday, April 30, and at BPRC Atlanta on Friday, May 1 also from 10:00am-8:00pm. Of course you may pick up your number race morning if preferred. Now, let’s really sweeten the deal: - Overall male and female winners each receive a $200 BPRC gift card - Overall masters male and female winners receive a $100 BPRC gift card - BPRC gift cards also go to age group winners: $25.00 for first place, $15 for second place, and $10 for third! All right, OK, we know, we know…the word sweet has been used way too much in this note, but happily there is a bit more sweetness to talk about! Why it’s none other than the Sweet Tomatoes Stomp 24 hour race series! Three races - 24 hours! Start with a 4 miler Saturday, May 30 at 7:30pm – that’s right PM, you know, in the evening! Then after a good night’s sleep, start your Sunday morning right with a 5K at 7:30am. The series ends with a flat, fast 1 miler at 7:30pm Sunday evening! Receive a different color technical T with the completion of each race, and if you do all 3, there’s a bonus award! All events take place at the Sweet Tomatoes restaurant located at 1125 Barrett Parkway in Kennesaw. In-store registration begins this week at all 4 BPRC locations.
