Fall Five Miler This Weekend!
Still haven't signed up for the Fall Five Miler taking place this Saturday, October 18 at Big Peach Marietta? Now's the time! There are also lots of other great fall races to consider running or walking.
First, about the Fall Five Miler, you may have a few questions:
Has registration reached 800 yet?
No, not yet, so there's still a long sleeve Asics technical T waiting for you! (We're getting close, so don't wait too long!)
How can I register? When does registration close?
– Register in-store at all BPRC locations until 8:00pm Thursday, Oct. 16
– At Active.com until 3:00pm Thursday, Oct. 16
– Download an application and mail it in providing it reaches BPRC Marietta by (you guessed it) Thursday, Oct. 16
– Race day morning starting at 6:30am
What time should I arrive Saturday morning?
If you already have your race number give yourself 45 minutes to an hour before start time so you can park, take care of any personal needs, and participate in the pre race warm-up. If you registered on line and need to pick up your number, or want to wait until race day to register, we will be ready for you at 6:30am.
Where should I park?
Due to space limitations, there will be no parking at the finish. Ample parking can be found at the race start at Olde Towne, and at the gravel fields at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church. While it is 5 miles from the start to the finish, thankfully it is less than ½ mile from the finish back to the start.
What can I expect at the finish line?
A big celebration! A pair of Feetures! running socks for the first 500 finishers, the coveted T-shirt, goody bags, door prizes, Fontis Water, yummy eats from Goldberg's Bagels, The Flying Biscuit, Publix, Caribou Coffee, and other treats, a really cool demonstration from Moohan Martial Arts, John W. Keddie's signing of his book "Running The Race: Eric Liddell," and so much more! In other words, fun!
What else is fun and new? The 2008 CVS/pharmacy Strong Legs Run takes place Saturday, November 8 at Turner Field. Raising funds for the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Foundation, this event is a fall classic! There's a 5K, a 10K you can use as your 2009 Peachtree Road Race qualifier, the All Kids Can Race run/walk, a really cool Mascot Trot for kids 12 and under, and a 2K Family Fun Event. Then stick around for the post-race festivities with entertainment, give-aways, food and drink. You can register and pick up your race number at any BPRC location, sign up on Active.com, or mail in an application. This one's always a blast!
Coming up at the end of this month is the Douglasville Moonlight Run 5K (formerly the Halloween Moonlight Run), on October 25 at 9:00pm. That's right, PM! This is the largest after dark 5K in the southeast which also includes a Tot Trot for the 5 and under set at 8:00pm, and a 1mile fun run for 6-12 year olds at 8:30pm. Stop by your closest BPRC to sign up!
We look forward to seeing you at Saturday's Fall Five Miler, and anywhere Your Best Miles Will Be Those Covered On Foot!
