On Friday, May 23rd, Big Peach Running Co. very quietly opened its new Decatur store. Quiet time is over, now its time to MAKE SOME NOISE!! Get to know us, and downtown Decatur by joining us for a Scavenger Hunt on Saturday, June 14th at 8:00am. This fun and free event is open to 70 teams of 2. We start with a trivia contest to test your general knowledge skills, and then with clues in hand, we challenge your puzzle solving abilities while you find your way around a 4-6 mile course through Decatur. There will be prizes for the winning teams, and a guaranteed good time! All you need to do is be sure one member of your team has a digital camera or cell phone with camera.
Actually, the weekend Grand Opening Extravaganza begins Friday evening. Starting at 6:00pm June 13, we will be holding a drawing every hour on the hour until 6:00pm June 14th. We have all kinds of cool prizes that you'll be sure to enjoy. You will need to be present to register, but not to win. If that's not enough reason to check out our new store, how about this: starting tomorrow (June 10th) at 6:30pm, and every Tuesday and Thursday moving forward, we will host a Group Run from BPRC Decatur. We have an awesome outdoor patio with tables, chairs and umbrellas for you to relax at before and after your run. There will be plenty of cool Fontis water to keep you hydrated, maps for routes of varying distances, clean restrooms, and of course a friendly, neighborhood atmosphere! These runs are open to walkers as well as runners of all abilities and paces, and of course is free of charge! To help kick this off in style, if you join us Tuesday the 10th or Thursday the 12th, we will give you a gift of a pair of Wright Socks. Just print out a copy of this email and bring it with you to receive yours! And, beginning Wednesday, June 18th at 6:30pm, we will also host a group bike ride from Decatur for all you triathletes, runners looking for some fun cross training, or anyone wanting some companions while out for a ride!
Now about that trail running stuff...The BPRC/Subaru Trail Running Series continues this coming Sunday, June 15th at Sope Creek! This time we're doing something a little different by offering a brief Trail Running 101 Clinic in our Marietta store prior to hitting the trail. If you're interested, join us at 7:00am for the clinic, and then carpool or caravan to Sope Creek at 7:45am. If you're already a seasoned trail dog, or want to sleep a little later, either join the carpool at BPRC at 7:45, or meet us at the Sope Creek trailhead at 8:00am. We have a 4 mile route planned, with options for additional mileage if desired. If walking is more your thing, by all means don't let the running word scare you. Sope Creek is a fantastic place for day hiking. This event is not a race, and is free and open to runners and walkers of all paces and abilities. We are limiting participation to 100 people, so please sign up right away!

Need more excitement? How about joining us for our Peachtree Prep Run on Saturday, June 21st at 7:30am. This BPRC tradition is even better this year as the PRR sponsor Reebok is bringing New Zealand native, and 4 time NCAA champion Kim Smith to pace the run! And if that isn't enough, get this, the kind folks from Team Automotive will provide air conditioned vehicles to shuttle you back to the start!
One more bit of summer news: In-store registration is now taking place at all BPRC locations for the 25th annual Run For Life 5K and 10K. All proceeds benefit the Georgia Sports Foundation's fight against childhood obesity.
May your best trail and road miles be those covered on foot!
