Come Out & Play With Peachy
2010 continues with many opportunities to get your P.A.L. fix covered. We’ve got races, we’ve got test drives, we’ve got clinics, and we even have a party coming up! Before Peachy lets loose with all the fun stuff, he/she/it wanted to share an interesting story heard on NPR reinforcing that we’re doing the right thing. (If the article makes you curious about heart rate monitors, we can help.)
This Weekend’s Races
The 9th Annual Chattahoochee Challenge 10K takes place this coming Saturday morning at 8:00am. One of the most popular (and fast) AJC Peachtree Road Race qualifiers, the Chatt Challenge starts and finishes at the Chattahoochee Nature Center, and takes you on a scenic course along the river. Chip timing (new this year), a heated gym for pre and post race festivities, and free admission to the Nature Center make this a don’t miss treat. In-store registration continues until 8:00pm on Thursday, Feb. 4 at BPRC Decatur, Atlanta and Kennesaw. Registration continues until 8:00pm Friday at BPRC Marietta.
If you registered for the sold out Red Top Rumble taking place on Sunday, we can help you save time on race day. Packet pick up is available at BPRC Marietta on Thursday, Feb. 4th from 12:00pm-8:00pm, and at BPRC Kennesaw Friday, Feb. 5th also from 12-8. And, to make pre-race packet pick up even better, we’ll give you a $10.00 savings coupon for your next pair of trail shoes!
More In-Store Registration Opportunities
In addition to all the races noted to the right, we are now offering in-store registration for another great Peachtree qualifier, the 30th Annual Charles Harris Run For Leukemia 10K, taking place on Feb. 27 in Tucker. A fast favorite 10K, this race is run to honor the memory of Dr. Charles E. Harris who lost his life to leukemia. Son Chuck Harris honors his father’s memory with this fund raising event which to date has raised over $800,000 for leukemia research at Emory University.
Also new on our list is the Race To Empower - A Bold Community. Taking place March 13 in Kennesaw, this race is sponsored by the Atlanta Beat Women’s Soccer Team, the Kennesaw State University Foundation, and the YWCA. You will get the opportunity to run alongside players from the Beat at this 5K, 1 Mile Fun Run, or Run Mile Dog run.

Spring Marathon Spectacular
Sat., Feb. 13 a 8:00am in Kennesaw, and Sat. Feb. 20 in Decatur.
If you are training for a spring half or full marathon, or running/walking for the fun of it, you’ll want to join us for a great way to spend a Saturday morning. We start with Kyle O’Day, with Continuum Sports Solutions (web site not available). His organization brings 10+ years experience helping athletes improve their running form. If you want to learn more about how proper foot strike, body posture, hip position, and arm carry can make you a more efficient runner, then don’t miss this opportunity to learn from one of the best.
Following Kyle’s talk, courtesy of Brooks Sports you will have the chance to win a free entry to the Country Music Half or Full Marathon in Nashville. (Two entries per event to be raffled off. Includes race and entry and access to concert.) There will of course be other give-aways from Brooks, a group run/walk (we have maps with distances from 3 miles on up), and light refreshments. Whether you choose to attend the Decatur or Kennesaw event, you can expect the same great program. Of course, you are more than welcome to come to both if you’re looking for cool kids to go out and play with!
