Did we mention Big Peach 5K? That’s right, our 4th annual 5K race is less than 3 weeks away! Have you signed up? Taking place Saturday, May 2nd at 8:00am, this fun, family event starts at the Brookhaven MARTA station, and finishes with a slight downhill, on Peachtree Rd., in front of BPRC Atlanta!
The “cool factor” of the Big Peach 5K is huge:
- Nike DriFit technical T for the first 1700 registered finishers.
- Presenting sponsor TECO providing pre and post race entertainment,
- Walker friendly (approx. 16 min/mile pace preferable).
- Stroller friendly.
- Dog friendly provided your pooch is on a short leash and well behaved.
- BPRC Gift Cards awarded to overall winners, masters winners, and top age group finishers!
- Proceeds to benefit the Georgia Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

- Fantastic finish line festivities with treats from Kroger, Smoothie King, Sweet Tomatoes, Elwoods Pizza, Lara Bar and more! And, if you’ve ever considered signing up for Team in Training, be sure to stay for an info session following the race. Join on the spot, and the $100 activation fee will be waived!
Don’t delay! Register today to make sure you’re one of the 1700 eligible for the Nike T! Besides, the entry fee increases from $20 to $25 on April 21. If road racing is not your thing, you can still participate! Volunteers are needed to ensure the safety and fun for all of our runners and walkers. If you’ve never volunteered at a race, you’re missing out on a really enjoyable opportunity. Please contact , and let her know you’re available.

- Are you adventurous? Meet Adventure Racer, Robyn Benincasa at BPRC Kennesaw, Tuesday, April 21 at 6:30pm! Triathlete, Adventure Racer, Firefighter...Robyn has accomplished some truly amazing feats including two age group podium finishes at Ironman Kona, and World Champion at the 2000 Eco-Challenge in Borneo, just to name a few. Awe Inspiring? You bet, but Robyn's impressive achievements also involve incredible non-profit work with her Project Athena Foundation. Robin founded this organization to help women with medical or traumatic setbacks live their athletic and adventurous dreams. The Project Athena Foundation encourages women to not just survive--but go on to STRIVE after enduring life altering yet life affirming medical conditions.
We are honored and excited to have Robyn share some of her valuable time with us. You will not want to miss the chance to meet this wonderful athlete and humanitarian!

- Did you sign up for Climb Atlanta? If so, packet pick up is available from 11:00-7:00 at BPRC Decatur on Wednesday, April 15, and on Thursday, April 16 at BPRC Atlanta, also from 11:00-7:00. Don’t know about Climb Atlanta? Taking place on April 18 from 10:00am-1:00pm, this unique event takes you up 50 floors, or 1150 steps at One Ninety One Peachtree Tower! To help raise awareness and funding for lung disease, Climb Atlanta poses a great physical challenge for anyone racing for a specific time, wanting to just reach the finish line, or honor someone with lung disease. Whatever your motivation or goals, this race is sure to prove to be fun and exhilarating! It’s not too late to sign up for this incredible event.
- The 31st annual Possum Trot is gearing up! In-store registration begins this week at all 4 BPRC locations for this awesome 10K race at the Chattahoochee Nature Center. Taking place on May 30th at 7:30am, this fun, flat, fast course always gets a big crowd. Get your 2010 Peachtree Road Race qualifier knocked off the list early! There’s a 1 mile fun run available too! And, this year’s race is Eco-friendly, promising less plastic, less paper, and a reusable race bag compliments of Whole Foods. You will also get a chance at a sneak peak of the CNC’s new facilities scheduled to open in June.
- Back by popular demand, it’s the BPRC/TNT Poker Run! As you’re out for a 3-4 mile run or walk, pick up playing cards along the way to form a poker hand. Best hand – not fastest runner wins the grand prize! Prizes for other winning hands will be available too! The last card of your hand will be dealt at a nearby restaurant/pub where the party begins! Stick around for some food and perhaps an adult beverage. A percentage of each venue’s receipts will go to the Georgia Chapter of Team In Training, the fund raising arm of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Want to run a fun race this weekend? Check out the Water For The World 5K, 10K, 1 Mile Fun Run and Tot Trot at John's Creek on Saturday April 18 at 7:30am. Proceeds from the entry fees and donations received the day of the race will benefit the water ministry of Mount Pisgah United Methodist Church.
