A Halloween Poe-mWith apologies to the late Edgar Allen Poe…Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary, over many a quaint and curious collection of running shoes galore, While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping, As of someone gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door. “'Tis some runner," I muttered, "tapping at my chamber door; Only this, and nothing more." Ah, distinctly I grew sober, as it was late October, And each separate dying ember wrought another race to run for sure. Eagerly I wished the morrow; vainly I had sought to borrow time for my heart to follow, the wealth of races galore. Quoth the Peachy, "run some more." BPRC and of course Peachy are proud to sponsor 3 great races this Saturday, Oct 31: Beat The Street For Little Feet 5K in beautiful Candler Park is always a blast, and has one of the coolest T-shirt designs around. Benefitting the Oakhurst Cooperative Pre-School, you’re sure to have a great time at this wonderful event, with a post-race party that can’t be beat! In-store registration continues through 8:00pm Wednesday at BPRC Marietta and Kennesaw, and through 8:00pm Thursday, at BPRC Atlanta and Decatur. If that’s a bit of a commute for you, don’t worry, there’s a great race taking place in Roswell… The 2nd Annual Big Pumpkin Run 5K! This race also offers a seriously cool finisher’s T (it’s a tech T, by the way), delicious food, raffles and all kinds of post-race fun. To really sweeten the pot, a $500 Air Tran voucher awaits the overall male and female finishers! If you like running for a cause, the proceeds from this event go to the World Harvest Church Youth Mission Program. In-store registration continues through 8:00pm Wednesday at BPRC Atlanta and Decatur, and through 8:00pm Thursday, at BPRC Kennesaw and Marietta. Finally this weekend it’s the 9th Annual Silver Comet Half Marathon. This race is sold out, but there are still a few charity entries available for $150. Of that, $100 goes directly to South Cobb High School Booster Club, Pebblebrook Performing Arts Program, or Floyd Middle School Booster Club / PE Dept – for the respective Cross Country and Track teams, the Pebblebrook High School Performing Arts program and Health Education / PE programs. To obtain one of the chairty entries, please contact the Silver Comet Half Marathon directly. ******************** ******************** ******************** ******************** And the melodious certain rustling of each autumn leaf thrilled me---filled me with fantastic terrors never felt before; So that now, to still the beating of my heart, I stood repeating, with a start " 'Tis a Halloween costume contest at the Big Peach Store. Quoth the Peachy, “walk some more." Well not actually a contest. While you’re out and about, on your own or with the kids this Saturday, put on your best Halloween costume, and stop by any BPRC location to say hi. Everyone wearing a costume is eligible to win a $15.00 BPRC Gift Card. Just drop your info in the bowl, and we’ll pick a name or two at the end of the day! Here I opened wide the door;--- Quoth the Peachy, “race some more!” We’re so excited to offer in-store registration at all 4 Big Peach locations for 2 additional races: The 25th Anniversary of the CVS/pharmacy Strong Legs Run! Supporting Children’s Health Care, this fun, family event starts and finishes at Turner Field. There’s a 5K, 10K (which can be used as a 2010 Peachtree qualifier,) the CVS/pharmacy “All Kids Can Run Race” for children with physical and/or developmental disabilities, a “Mascot Trot” for kids 12 and under, and a family 2K. There’s always a fantastic pre and post race celebration at Strong Legs, so stop by BPRC to sign up and pick up your race number for this classic! Then, on Nov. 21 is the Turkey Trot 5K in Cartersville. A great preamble to Thanksgiving, this race offers a beautiful, fast course around Cartersville Middle School, and the Etowah River Walk, and is a fundraiser for the Bartow County United Way. Even more special is the long sleeve cotton T, and the civilized 9:00 am start time. Rounding out the fun is the prize of a frozen turkey to all age group winners! ******************** ******************** ******************** ******************** Back into the chamber turning, all my soul within me burning, Soon again I heard a tapping, something louder than before. "Surely," said I, "there is a passion, a strong passion for running fashion speaking to my very core.” Let me see, then, what is out there that I may explore. Quoth the Peachy, “there’s so much more." That’s right, it’s the return of Ladies Night at BPRC Marietta, Thursday, Nov. 12 from 7-10pm! We always have a huge crowd for this extraordinary evening. Food, wine, chocolaty treats, massage, and of course a runway show of the latest in running fashion! There’s also a goodie bag that can’t be beat, and of course the chance to win some great prizes too! BPRC is working with Skirt Sports to make Atlanta the home of the next Skirt Chaser 5K! Ladies get to wear a Skirt Sports running skirt at the race (if they so choose,) and get a 3 minute head start over the guys who then become “Skirt Chasers.” These events usually take place in the early evening, and offer a fantastic post-race block party. The winner, male or female gets $500!
