Andrew Powell

Andrew Powell

In 1973, on a warm May day, a brilliant child was born. At the child’s birth, three great runners came to worship the newborn running child. It took 25 years for the running child to realize that he should start running, but once his potential was realized, a star was born.  Andrew has won competitions in every race distance from the quarter mile to a 12-hour adventure race.  Oh yeah, and a shot put competition as well.

While working for one of the local rivals, he was worn down like the sand of time to the point where he never wanted to run again.  But through a miracle from some superior being, Andrew (who as you may recall from earlier was the new born running child) was reborn many times over again as he came in and out of retirement about 18 times last summer.  No seriously, it was about 18 times.  Did we mention… seriously?  But thanks to the leadership of Mike Cosentino and Steve DeMoss, this once bright star would shine again.  Just like Jeff Garcia.  Talk about escaping the grasp of father time.  Geeze.

Anywho, Andrew is currently in the ultramarathon phase of his life (just like all old, slow men) and competed in his 6th consecutive Mt. Mist 50K trail race at the end of January 2008.  A true tortoise, indeed.
